Concerts

We present concerts in Saltburn three or four times a year. Generally, our policy is to showcase artists from the North East and Yorkshire although we are not averse to feature those from elsewhere. As we run on a non profit basis we do need to keep costs within sensible boundaries so we do ask that any artists who contact us keep this in mind.

Our concerts are held at Saltburn Golf Club which has stunning views of Saltburn. It also boasts ample car parking and excellent disability access. Tickets for our concerts are priced at £8.00 in advance for members (up to 2 tickets) or £12.00 on the door for non-members. We operate on a not for profit basis in respect of our concerts but you can help us to break even by spreading the word to your friends and buying lots and lots of raffle tickets on the night! Tickets for our concerts can be purchased at Book Corner, Milton St. in Saltburn. Alternatively you can contact us by telephone or email (see the home page) to book tickets which can be paid for on the night of the show, or even better get them from the club on a Monday night at The Marine whilst enjoying the club atmosphere. You can buy online from WeGotTickets through the link below.

Combining harmonies and an array of instruments, John & Lynne Ward have been making music together for over a decade, playing all over the UK and beyond. The husband and wife duo combine guitar, bodhran, accordion, harmonica and recorder to perform John’s acclaimed songs from his extensive catalogue, together with some well-chosen folk classics. Their performances are entertaining, relaxed, thought-provoking and from the heart, which has earned them a fine reputation and great reviews. John has a formidable reputation as a songwriter and his songs are sung and recorded by other artists. His most recent book & album, ‘Congress’, was serialised on BBC radio.

“… powerful songs, fine harmonies, skilled accompaniment and a breathtaking bodhran solo from John.” – Folk on the Moor, Devon

“ .. fine musicianship, superb songwriting, strong harmonies, well thought-out arrangements. They certainly put a great deal of thought into their performance, and it shows!” Topic Folk Club

“A gripping narrative and stirring music .. the quality of the writing, music and production is superb” Steve Martin, Executive Producer, BBC Radio Suffolk

“Love the Sargasso Album … cracking songs” Mike Harding

“ .. when John went off on a bodhran solo it was spectacular … I never knew you could achieve that with a bodhran!” Steve Primarolo, Organiser – Bracknell Folk Club

Support will be provided by "Full Circle", local husband and wife team, Ian & Pauline Young.
